Heather Lee Symphony Petrie
Heather Petrie is currently a Graduate Assistant at Southern Illinois University working on her master’s degree in Trumpet Performance. She holds a bachelor's degree in music from Marshall University (BFA ’20).
Heather attended Cabell Midland High School in Ona, WV from 2012-2016. Cabell Midland is known as the Fine Arts Academy of West Virginia. With an accomplished music program, she sat principal player in her school, in All-County Band for Cabell County, in Tri-state Youth Orchestra, and in numerous other honor bands. She made the top 5 chairs in West Virginia All-State Band all four years of her high school career.
During her time at Marshall University, she participated in many ensemble groups such as Marshall's Symphonic Band, Orchestra, Wind Symphony, Jazz Band, Trumpet Ensemble, and more. She also participated in numerous performances with guest artists including performing with Gregory Porter in 2018 at the Keith Albe in Huntington, WV. Heather Graduated from Marshall University in 2020 with Very High Honors.
An accomplished trumpeter in commercial and classical music, Heather has performed in everything from musical productions to party bands. In addition to her musical performances, she is also an accomplished private trumpet teacher with most of her students moving on to pursue music in a professional setting after high school, along with many of them receiving music-based scholarships.
A native of Huntington, West Virginia, Heather resides in Carbondale, Illinois finishing her master’s degree at SIU.
